Dean Bushey, PhD

Dr. Dean Bushey is an autonomous systems expert and an industry leader. Dr. Bushey has 30 years of academic, business, and military educational leadership skills. His extensive knowledge comes from his experience as a computer scientist, educator, pilot, and unmanned systems expert in both industry and the US Air Force as a Senior Officer.

 

After 25 years of service, Dr. Bushey retired from the US Air Force in 2013 as a Senior Officer. During his service, Dr. Bushey received extensive knowledge in unmanned systems, aviation and leadership. As a Command Pilot, he has over 4,500 flight hours of aircraft command flight experience in the C-5 Galaxy, C-20 Gulfstream, and in Advanced Unmanned Aircraft. His assignments include Director Intelligence and Surveillance Systems, US Air Forces Europe – Germany, Deputy Director, Joint Staff, Nellis Air Force Base, NV, and Professor at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

 

While shaping and molding the next generation of STEM leaders at Florida Polytechnic University, Dean also focused on autonomous systems. His research was performed so it would lead to the next generation of automation, sensor, and communication/network technology for autonomous systems and self-driving vehicles. Dr. Bushey has led international collations in autonomous systems and project management. 

 

Before joining Florida Polytechnic, Dr. Bushey was in charge of a broad range of projects. He served as a Senior Management Consultant to a Nuclear Engineering firm, where he was in charge of contracts and budgeting for a $10+ Million business; the IT manager and network consultant; and a lead consultant to the President. Overall, Dr. Dean Bushey has demonstrated expertise in numerous fields, which include advanced computer science concepts, instructional methodologies, systems engineering and integration, and technical analysis.
