Major General (Ret) Larry Martin transitioned from the Air Force after 32 years of active service. He is a Senior Consultant with Two Blue Aces and specializes in guiding large organizations with enterprise-level strategic planning; building international, government, industry and community alliances; driving process improvement; and steering talent management and leadership training.
Prior to his military retirement, Larry served as the Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, where he oversaw 226 Washington DC based employees managing Air Force international matters with US government, industry partners and over 100 worldwide air forces. He returned to Tampa with his wife, Julia, in 2017. His family first came to Tampa in 2008 when he served as the wing commander at MacDill Air Force Base.
He is a command pilot with over 3,700 hours in the C-130E/H/J, KC-135R/T, E-8, UV-18B and C-37A aircraft, commanded at the squadron and wing-level, served in Southwest Asia, taught history at the United States Air Force Academy and held leadership assignments at Air Mobility Command, U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. Transportation Command and Headquarters, United States Air Force, Washington, D.C.
As a part of the Two Blue Aces team, his work has ranged from executive coaching and team building for a major port, a strategy review for a nationally recognized third-party logistics company, contract consulting for defense services providers, guiding US government and overseas services business expansion for defense and defense service companies and leadership programs for military units and area universities. Larry co-authored Leadership at 100 Feet with Jake Polumbo, Rob Polumbo and Chad Franks.
Deeply committed to the Tampa Bay region, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Tampa Bay Defense Alliance, the Royal Air Force Museum American Foundation, and the University of South Florida's World Advisory Council. As the volunteer President for the Medal of Honor Convention Tampa Bay 2019, his team brought 46 Medal of Honor recipients to Tampa Bay from October 20-30 2019 and supported the Congressional Medal of Honor Society education outreach program in three county school districts.
He lives in Tampa with his wife, Julia. They have two sons, Jeffrey, a Space Force intelligence officer, and Joseph (JJ), an Army military police officer.
